(text and post to be edited)
After a terrible one and a half year (in some parts also wonderful) i 've decided to work on something more optimistic and somehow more personal. My cousin died in a pretty bad way last year. Although I haven't got the guts yet to go visit the cemetery that she is buried, I started visiting other cemeteries trying to notice how people mark death.
A few months ago I start working on a new idea. Initially inspired by the statues in a serene sleeping position on cemeteries in Greece and much later on by Sleeping Beauty (Η Ωραια Κοιμωμενη) a sculpture of Giannoulis Halepas in 1877. Sleeping Beauty is the sculpture of a young girl who died in a very young age that is placed above her grave.
The whole story i am afraid it got me really depressed. So in a way i want to do the exact opposite. I would like to create a statue that is really sleeping and breathing. For that reason I picked as a model someone alive and a boy instead of a girl.
The Warm Machine:
(the idea of the construction of the warm machine came from Kafriel)
Thinking of ways to show the breathing i concluded that except the movement an other beautiful aspect of breathing that you observe only in low temperatures its the cloudy steamed air coming out of someone.
The construction of the Breathing Machine:

airways though the body:
A fast sketch that I did with clay for the head size and proportions a few days ago. The model for the breathing statue is Peter Broderic. I am really glad and thankful that he agreed to give his features to the sculpture.
